my heart comes undone

I shot and edited this video for Judah Adashi’s piece my heart comes undone to premiere at the New Music Gathering 2015 in San Francisco (more about that here).

We had a single hour-long shoot to make this happen and most of the video is a freestyle dance captured in one wide-angle shot. An immense thank you to the dancer Sara Paul for her impromptu performance, and for pulling together the strong gestural motives that give the piece its focus. I kept the shoot very minimal to allow the strong shadows and low-light noise to influence the mood and fabric of the piece, and infused some Norman McLaren effects into the environment as well.
